Chicago is a city of divisions. Embarassing divisions. Divisions along lines of wealth & racial identity that keep the residents of North, West, & South sides often misinformed & confused about one another.
At the beach, on the edge of Chicago's East side, these segregations and separations are sometimes forgotten. The city's fleeting summer brings Chicago's citizens to joyfully slip into Lake Michigan's refreshingly cool but mildly polluted waters & rest upon its mostly sandy shores together.
I walk along that shore and in the most casual and unassuming way I walk up to my neighbors and photograph them lost in (generally) blissfull moments.
